I was wary of Inflatable SUPs when I first started paddling. But when it came time to buy my son a board, I wanted to err on the less expensive side, so if he didn’t like it as much as he thought he would, I wouldn’t be out as much money.
Well, after a ton of research I have just purchased my 2nd Fun Water 11′ Inflatable SUP. This board is absolutely wonderful. It tracks almost as good as my rigid board. It is MUCH lighter. 17 pounds compared to 40 pounds. It is able to carry as much weight as my rigid board.
The Fun Water SUP comes with everything you need to get out on the water (except for your life jacket and whistle) It comes with:
- 11′ Inflatable SUP
- 3 piece paddle
- Pump with psi indicator
- Patch kit
- Bungees on the bow for storage
- Dry bag
- 2 side and 1 center fin (removable)
All of this for less than a third of what I paid for my rigid board ($1,000)
I have been thrilled with this board. Not only because of the price, but the performance is super. It is so easy to carry to the water from the car. If you are tight on space, it can be rolled up and stored in the backpack.
If you are looking to enter the sport inexpensively on a board that you might never need to upgrade, this should be it.
This SUP is great for me (220 pounds) Or my son (90 pounds soaking wet). It is light enough to easily carry and is stable enough for this big ole guy. If you still would like a smaller version, there is a 10′ 6′ Fun Water SUP for about $20 less.
You can compare this to Inflatable SUPs that are twice, if not more, expensive with very similar specs. Here is one example.
I have written an in-depth post with a video of this board in use. You can see that post here and the video is on that page as well.
